Getting started
The panel
Display
The waveform, the file name, the clock, and the state of the engine. Drag across it to select a piece; press Delete to cut it out. Cuts are non-destructive and the export follows exactly what you hear. ⌘Z brings a cut back.
Monitor
Source plays the original, Processed plays the mix you are dialling in, Loop 10s repeats the ten seconds from the playhead so you can compare while turning a knob (window length in Settings › Monitor).
Output
Peak normalises the export to –0.1 dB. Switch it off to keep your levels.
Preset memory
Voiceover, Podcast, Interview, Clean Only, No Music. Each recalls the three channel knobs and their on/off switches. F1–F5 or ⌥1–⌥5.
Channels
Clean is the denoiser: how much of the room you remove. Enhance is the generative voice rebuild. The display names the range as you turn: Dry, Studio Voice up to 100, Boost above it — Clean reads Gentle, Balanced, Maximum the same way. Music is the stem master — the overall level of everything that isn't the voice — with the six stem faders underneath. Each channel has an on/off switch.
Transport
Record opens the microphone and puts the take into the queue as a new file. Play is Space. Export writes the file.

Formats
In: WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, M4A, AAC, CAF, OGG, and the audio of MOV, MP4 and M4V.
Out: WAV, AIFF, FLAC, CAF (PCM or Apple Lossless), W64, RF64, OGG Vorbis — 16, 24 or 32 bit. Container, bit depth, sample rate (48 kHz by default) and a file-name suffix are set in Settings › Export. MP3 export is deliberately absent.
Requirements
- A Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later). Intel Macs are not supported.
- macOS 12 Monterey or later.
- About 1.5 GB on disk — both models ship inside the app, nothing is downloaded later.
- No internet connection is needed, ever.
Permissions
The first time you drop a file from Documents, Desktop, Downloads or an external drive, macOS asks whether EgoMixer may read that folder. The first time you press Record, it asks for the microphone. Each is asked once, in EgoMixer's name.
Where things go
- Exports — next to the original file, or in the folder chosen in Settings › Export.
- Recordings — the folder chosen in Settings › Recordings.
- Cache — the processed signals of recent files, so re-opening one is instant. Location and size in Settings › Storage; clear it any time.
